Having not had the luxury of meaningful vacation / down time in some years, having always held demanding executive roles, I took the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe, with my wife and two daughters; an opportunity the four of us would unlikely get again. The time also allowed me to support my daughters through critical schooling, and university, years; and gave me the opportunity to support my wife in establishing her own training business; something that she had wanted to do for some time.

Reporting directly to the President, Asia Pacific, I led the entire metals business of Dyno Nobel Asia Pacific, including Nitromak Dyno Nobel based in Ankara, Turkey. Full P&L accountability for a $450m p.a. business employing 500 people, via 8 reporting Operations, and General, Managers; across 5 manufacturing and 40 operational customer sites in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Turkey. Providing Zero Harm safety leadership; developing, executing, and maintaining, a strategic operational plan aligned to the organisations’ goals, and objectives, focussed on profitable growth opportunities; while ensuring entire customer satisfaction, at all levels, from the executive to the operators on the ground. In July 2018, following a strategic, group wide, reorganisation, the role of VP, Australia, PNG and Europe was consolidated and relocated to Brisbane.

Leading the WA surface mining customer portfolio of Dyno Nobel Asia Pacific with full P&L responsibility for a $200m pa business employing 150 people across 15 operational sites. Developing and maintaining a strategic plan aligned to the organisations’ goals and objectives and focussed on profitable growth opportunities. Ensuring HSEQ was paramount in the minds of our employees and customers.

Responsible for the sustainable growth of the underground and hard rock explosives business within the Asia Pacific region.
