My previous position as Financial Analyst at the United States Environmental Protection Agency and my role as an Executive Officer with the Illinois Army National Guard has provided me plenty of opportunities to apply the type of skills prepared many employers are seeking. I welcome the chance to challenge, expand, and develop for what comes next. As an EPA Project Officer, I have managed multiple high-priority grants, which has given me the experience to effectively perform many critical job functions: (1) reviewed applications, workplans, and budgets, which has trained me to provide consistent quality reviews across all documentation that comes to my desk; (2) communicated effectively with grantees in order to ensure the application is eligible and the terms and conditions of the award is fulfilled, which has strengthened my ability to speak clearly and effectually to get what I need to get the job done; (3) worked under high-priority deadline pressure from management, which has taught me that not only I excel working under high-pressure circumstances, but it is also a part of the job I actively seek; and (4) deployed for emergency response, such as Hurricane Maria (Logistics Section Chief) and USS Lead in East Chicago, IN (Case Manager), demonstrating my adaptability to dynamic work environments, commitment to contributing toward a greater cause, and working in a team setting effectively to solve problems. Being a former federal government employee has also given me the insight on the different type of conditions we manage when dealing with a variety of policy, regulation, and standard operating procedure. I understand the pace, patience, and the necessary follow-up skills needed to effectively perform my job, which I believe will carry through in my work with any organization.I also have experience in emergency response work as a commissioned officer for the Illinois Army National Guard. I have managed my platoon through field operations, the DC 2021 inauguration, and COVID-19 mobile vaccination sites in the Chicago area as well as a variety of other missions and tasks. I feel very comfortable managing personnel, utilizing diversified skillsets, and working with different personalities to reach a specified end goal in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. As a platoon leader, I know how to effectively execute a mission order following the Company Commander’s intent, using available resources and appropriate time management. I’m also not afraid to ask questions to get the information requirements I need to do my job well.
