RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDEDevelopment and implementation of Manchester City Council’s sport and leisure strategy.Responsible for the Council’s Sport and Recreation Estate (20 elite and community facilities) through a mixed model of contracting arrangements. Leading a direct service team of 40 staff and a contracted workforce of 700 employees.Management of capital and revenue budgets.Leadership of complex capital projects.Managing stakeholder relationships from public, private and third sectors, both political and non political.Leading and Managing Indoor Leisure contracting arrangements.Responsible for major sports events strategy legacy programme.Commissioning of sport and physical activity services, with a combined visitor total of 4m visits to services.Representing Manchester locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.Effectively communicate priorities and progress through high quality reports, briefings and presentations to Council Committees, elected members, Members of parliament and organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors.ACHIEVEMENTS INCLUDE:Leading Manchester Sport and Leisure Policy contributing to increasing Manchester Sport and Physical Activity participation rates to above national and regional averages Leading significant and complex capital projects, creating the National Taekwondo Centre, National Basketball Performance Centre, FC United Community Stadium, Didsbury Sports GroundDelivering organisation change, improving outcomes in the context of rapidly reducing local government resources.Building capacity in voluntary sector organisations, including Friends of Parks Groups, Leisure Trusts, Sports Clubs and local charities.Leading the £6m regeneration of Alexandra Park Sports and Recreation Facilities. Leading volunteering based services, recruiting over 5,000 volunteers to support community based activities.
