Key Responsibilities:•The design and development of steel bespoke doors.•Use Solidworks to create 3-dimensional models of steel doors to be manufactured.•Design and upkeep of all ironmongery fitted to the bespoke steel doors•Create DXF drawings from the 3-dimensional models.•Using Radan programming software create programs and nests for sheet metal and send to the Amada turret punch for manufacturing.•New product design and development•Design and create drawings for external manufacture of equipment to handle and transport doors around the factory.•Provide assembly drawings, folding details etc. for doors to be manufactured.•Communicate requirements for manufacturing to the Production Controller and Team Leaders, including drawings as appropriate.•Amend job descriptions in the Epicor manufacturing system where appropriate to aid communication to the assembly team.•Ensure that manufacturing drawings and programmes are issued and controlled according to the requirements of ISO9001:2015.•Assist in the resolution of manufacturing problems arising from the design of a particular door.•Provide “as built” drawings as requested to the sales team.•Investigate the causes of non-conformances and customer complaints in conjunction with the Design Manager. Identify and implement actions which will prevent recurrence.•Drive continuous improvement of product development processes and providing support for following up on quality issues.•Liaise with production teams throughout the design and production process to evaluate the feasibility of production and assist with finding solutions to design or fabrication issues.•Ensure the design process is integrated within the other disciplines of the company, especially Operations, Commercial and Marketing.•Assist and clarify technical queries from the operational and sales teams.
