I am a director at Cove Care, a specialist provider of children's residential and community mental health services. Cove is developing a strong national reputation of providing quality services for young people with complex diagnosed, or underlying, mental health problems and are working in a collaborative way with many repeat-referrer local authorities. I am a qualified mental health nurse with over 20 years experience in working with young people, staff teams and organisations within forensic and secure mental health settings. Previous roles have included Service Manager and Clinical Nurse Specialist of a CAMHS secure in-patient setting, and Nurse Consultant for a large national independent sector healthcare provider. I have post-graduate training in Child Forensic Practice Psychology & Law, and my current interests include developing therapeutic systems and processes throughout our service for this challenging and deserving group of young people. In my work as a company director, leader and direct case worker I utilise a generic approach which includes adopting principles from my training qualifications in child forensics, mental health, CBT, NLP, hypnotherapy and management of aggression training. On a personal note I compete in Ironman triathlon events. I usually aim to compete in 1 to 2 'Ironmans' per year, with a further 1 to 2 half Ironmans and a handful of short distances. I find the commitment and dedication to training and nutrition for these races both mirror and help my psychology and focus on business and service delivery. And my negotiation skills are greatly enhanced by having to sell a 15 hour training week to my wife and daughter!
