I am a Partner with HW Controls & Assurance Ltd (trading as Validera). The firm's roots go back to the mid 90s and was previously within the Haines Watts Group, until 31st March 2023, when we rebranded and repositioned ourselves as an independent Strategic Business Partner. The autonomy enables us to be more flexible and better support our growing client base through access to a range range of services.I am an active member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Chairperson of the ACCA Internal Audit Network Panel.FCCA qualified and passionate about internal audit, I use my mix of in-house, out-sourced, multisector and client side experience as a non-executive to ensure that Validera delivers an internal audit service to our clients which meets their assurance needs and reflects the wider remit to ‘consult’, ‘add value’ and ‘improve’ our clients’ operations to realise their full potential.We help our clients Improve, Comply and Optimise their operations.My main areas of specialism include: Internal Audit Risk Management Corporate Governance Business Planning Performance Management Business ResilienceI work across the public, private and third sectors; with significant experience in local government, health, housing, NDPBs, regulators, education, funding bodies, charities and financial services. Working closely with a number of sector bodies I’m actively involved in promoting the characteristics, qualities and benefits of professional internal audit; including authoring articles and speaking at national events.
