In 1979, one of the first Polo Ralph Lauren licensees, Polo Leathergoods, a company featuring belts, suspenders, small leather goods and carriage trade accessories was formed. Creativity started with Ralph Lauren and interaction with his design teams led by Jerry Lauren andBuffy Birrittella. Their staffs included among others the likes of Joseph Abboud, John Varvatos, Vera Wang, etc.Polo/Ralph Lauren Sales and operations were coordinated with through the leadership of Peter Strom and his appointees, Cheryl Sterling, Edwin Lewis, Lance Isham, Doug Williams, John Idol, etc. Our merchandising staff developed product from design concept to approval followed by production and distribution. Sourcing the finest materials, crafting product with a specialized vendor network group predominantly in Europe through the late 80's, later in factories globally. The company was acquired in 1995; Lee remained its president until in 1998.

In1989 became president, overseeing the organization; w/responsibility of all Polo/Ralph Lauren Leathergood operations within the company; including the corporate headquarters in Norfolk, Va. The facility included distribution along with production and cust.service. The company had merchandising and showroom sales offices over three floors at 59th and Madison in NYC. Responsibility for all facets of company operations, sales, product design, development,marketing, manufacturing leading to global product penetration.Additionally acted as laison with Ralph Lauren corporate. Building, maintaining and executing policy as discussed and directed by the corporate vice chairman and president; advertising, various projects, including retail programs, executing joint plans with licensees, fulfiling requirements of men's and women's design teams for all lifestyle product themes as well as fashion events.
