MMU exists to help multi-unit managers develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours that are required to consistently execute operational excellence and deliver enhanced organisational performance.After many years as an Learning & Development Director working in the retail and hospitality sectors, I founded MMU to help organisations to develop their multi-unit managers, who I view as the key enablers to sustained superior performance.From enhancing the skills and capabilities of current multi-unit managers to helping build and develop the next generation, MMU focuses on six critical impact activities which drive operational excellence and develop the capability of the team who work for the multi-unit manager.Sometimes referred to as the "manager's of managers" we know they are vital to the mid to long-term success of the business. MMU understands that to help them make a difference requires us to support them on the front line as they undertake the core activities of the multi-unit manager. Accompanying them on visits to their stores/units/restaurants and observing their regular business reviews with their managers, are just two examples where MMU would seek to work alongside the multi-unit manager.

Responsible for the design and delivery of the four-year Group strategic priorities across 4 SSP operating divisions (including Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific) aligned to support the attainment of organisational goals including a CAGR of 8%.Key Achievements Included:Induction - Strengthening global processes to achieve key performance indicators linked to improved operational execution, reductions in new hire labour turnover (reduced by +15%) & associated costsLeadership Development & Succession – developed the SSP Academy (i.e. global succession programmes to build talent pipelines leading to increased numbers of internal appointments - grown from 42% to 65%) and introduced the SSP leadership competency framework across all territories Multi-Unit Management (MUM) Development - delivered a global programme with Rosen College of Hospitality Management (USA) to develop capabilities relating to Ops, Finance, Marketing and HR to over 350 MUMs from across 15 countries contributing to a 5% increase in Group LFL sales in 2012/2013 Global Customer Service Style Training - implemented global service training interventions for front line colleagues to embed core competencies of service in the travel environment and enhance sales techniques to grow average ticket by over 13%, items per transaction and penetration metrics to deliver LFL sales targetsOnline Development Resources - international rollout to provide access to development portal hosting content related to SSP Academy succession programmes enabling cost effective implementation in specific territories (e.g. USA) and reduce training costs relating to class-room based learning (e.g. UK) Talent Management - working with Country Board executives with individual coaching and the delivery of Franklin Covey development programmes to Board Teams in UK, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Spain and Asia Pacific

Line Management responsibility for 10 people and annual budget of £550,000.Key Achievements Included:Operational training materials developed to improve operational consistency and service introduced resulting in improved internal and external brand audit results, plus increases in the organisations net promoter score (32% to 44% over two years)Partnering with external brands (e.g. Starbucks, Burger King, M&S) to align their brand-specific training with SSP content Launch of Level 2 Apprenticeship in Food & Beverage resulting in 95% pass rate for initial wave of 40 learners and securing of Government funding to extend programme (£60,000 in 2009, rising each subsequent year to +£550,000 in 2013)Delivery of coaching Qualifications (Level 5 Coaching & Mentoring) accredited by the Institute of Leadership & Management to create internal business coaches focused on supporting new-to-role managers and new Management hires (i.e. first 100 days).
