I have experience in advising financial institutions and public and private companies on all aspects of conventional debt capital markets, equity capital markets, Islamic finance and liability management.Large capital markets issuances I have advised on while at Simmons & Simmons include:- Advising 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 on the establishment of the establishment of a U.S.$3 billion Trust Certificate Issuance Programme and debut issuance of U.S.$600 million thereunder;- Advising 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 on their debut issuance of U.S.$135 million high yield sukuk issuance;- Advising 𝗦𝗵𝘂𝗮𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 on the issuance of a U.S.$150 million high yield sukuk issuance; - Advising Standard Chartered Bank and the other Joint Lead Managers on the debut issuance of U.S.$300 million by 𝗚𝗙𝗛 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽; - Advising 𝗗𝘂𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 on the issuance of their debut U.S.$500 million Additional Tier 1 Sukuk; and- Advising 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗤𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗿 on the issuance of their debut U.S.$500 million Additional Tier 1 Bond.

I worked for several years at Latham & Watkins where I advised on some of the largest capital markets transactions in the region, particularly in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including, amongst others:- Advising the 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗮 on the establishment of their 144A/Reg S Global Trust Certificate Issuance Programme and issuance of U.S.$9 billion thereunder, the largest ever sukuk issuance;- Advising the Lead Managers on the issuance by 𝐒𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 of U.S.$1bn Certificates due 2023 and U.S.$1bn Certificates due 2043 – the world’s first international 30 year sukuk issuance; and- Advising 𝐎𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐨 on the establishment of a Trust Certificate Issuance Programme and issuance of U.S.$1.25bn Trust Certificates due 2018 – the world’s first sukuk structured utilising airtime assets

I trained at Clifford Chance in London and worked for several years in the capital markets department of Clifford Chance, where I advised on both equity and debt transactions, before moving to the Middle East and advising regional financial institutions including Emirates NBD, Mashreqbank, National Bank of Abu Dhabi and quasi-sovereigns including Dubai Electricity and Water Company on their capital markets issuances.
