My career centers on mental health and scientific discovery. As a clinician, I merge my biomedical training with traditional psychoanalysis and contemporary psychiatric evidence-based practices. Concomitantly, my research aim is to understand the neurobiology of emotional and psychosomatic disorders. I study mind-body interactions (e.g. the role of mental states in gut function, metabolism, and chronic pain) using a conglomeration of molecular genetic and epigenetic techniques. My current focus is understanding suicide and self-harm behaviors, persistent complex bereavement disorder, and psychosocial functioning of transplant candidates.A list of my publications can be found at: https://pmtresearch.org/publications
