Forte Platform X ProjectLeading Forte’s Platform X DevOps team, responsible for spearheading efforts to secure and to standardize technology stack for various service teams across the platform business units. The focus of the DevOps Platform team is to provide self servicing solutions that empower development teams to quickly build, package and deploy microservices for languages such GoLang, Elixir, and NodeJS and more complex deployment such as evmos blockchain within Kubernetes. The DevOps Platform team is responsible for creating self-servicing tools to quickly onboard services, with standard hooks in observability tools such as Datadog, CICD pipelines in self hosted GitHub/Harness, IAC in terraform or Pulumi, build/package with helm/deploy services as containers into Kubernetes, and automate unit / integration testing as part of the build process.Support private terraform modules and IAC to automate creation of resources within an account such as VPC, Kubernetes, and complex network routing across different accounts. Starting to implement Pulumi with TypeScript as Terraform alternative to empower developers to provision infrastructure.Work closely with development directors, architects and developers of various business units to help teams rollout services adhering to architectural standards and hence making it supportable across the organization. This requires standardizing the engagement process, managing responsibilities between DevOps and development teams.

Joined Mission DevOps Team to help clients implement AWS well architected framework including operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization. Supported clients such as Forte, Writable, Kanopy, and Unqork. Technology focus: Used CloudFormation and Terraform to manage all AWS infrastructure, administrate container managed services including ECS and EKS, and leverage CI/CD using Jenkins/Gitlab/Github/Bitbucket. Leveraged Lambda for taking EBS snapshots, and integrated API Gateway with Lambda functions for Rest API. Performance Engineering - troubleshoot performance issues throughout the stack including infrastructure, instance, containers, applications and databases. Setup Jmeter cluster and create API scripting to perform load testing.

Monitoring: Ensure site reliability by implementing New Relic monitoring and diagnostic capabilities including APM, Synthetics, and Infrastructure monitoring. Using APM metrics, diagnostics, and transaction traces, slow response time may be isolated within UI tier, application tier, database tier, integration tiers, and external calls. Performance Engineering: Responsible for isolating performance issues (in all tiers), discussing with the team possible solutions, and implementing the fixes. Work with the load testing team to validate measurable improvements. Dramatically improved site performance prior to holiday. DevOps Automation: Implemented Jenkins pipeline build and deploy processes. Created pipeline with multiple steps such as build, test, package, transfer, deploy and validate usable for various environments including DEV, UAT and Production. Created additional jobs to re-deploy a build, deploy static assets, and control application server restarts. DevOps Development: Support Vagrant build process to set up a completely virtualized environment for development stack including: Apache, Weblogic (a store, an aux, and a bcc instance), Oracle DB and Endeca. DevOps AWS: Planning project to migrate non-production Oracle Commerce to AWS for better management of infrastructure and to support multiple development streams. o Create Terraform scripts to provision AWS environments o Provision multiple Oracle Commerce developments and UAT environments o Use Jenkins to manage provisioning, startup/shutdown of resources to save AWS costs

Provision AWS Virtual Private Cloud to support microservice deployment including ECS and Kubernetes. Infrastructure is scripted with CloudFormation templates and Kubernetes KOPS. Using vagrant to support provisioning of virtual servers such as Kubernetes and Oracle Commerce. Implemented Jenkins automation of Microservice build / test / deploy pipeline into ECS and Kubernetes. Provide deployment support for Oracle Commerce, and triage production issues.

Pre-Sale Support – work with presale engineers to design and to scale the environment for Oracle Commerce Implementation to support expected traffic and growth. Support onboarding of new implementation or migration of Oracle Commerce platform to Rackspace. Provide best practice scalable design and configurations. Create build server and automation jobs in Jenkins to build and deploy ear, deploy hotfixes, instance monitor post deployment and cold restart/rolling restart. Jenkins server manages all lower and upper environments. Work with Application Support Engineers to set up AppD / New Relic monitoring. Work with clients to profile and to optimize overall site performance. Requires tuning each layer (web server / app server / F5/ RAC DB), cache configurations within app server and CDN. Created process / checklist to onboard new clients. Use automation scripts to set up application servers and Endeca packages. Currently leveraging dev-ops to use ansible to completely automate build out processes. Involved in setting up Endca Apps for clients, tune Experience Manager, and MDEX configurations. Isolate Endeca search performance bottlenecks. Work with clients to improve search relevance. As part of the process – create run books and account management guidelines for critical app support staff to support day-day activities of a site. Primary deployment role on clients: Finishline, ZeniOptical, Lululemon.cn and Ann Taylor (AnnTaylor/Loft/Lou & Grey) Other notable clients to support: Yankee Candle, Ascena (Lane Bryant/Justice/Catherine/Dress Barn/Maurices), Shoe Carnival, and Barneys. On-call rotation to support 2nd and 3rd shift for P1 issues.
