Criminology and Criminal Justice Department Graduate Courses: Law and Human Behavior; Exploring Serial Murder; Psychological Concepts for Justice ProfessionalsI develop new course curriculum for the Administration of Justice Department; create syllabi, course materials, and teaching tools supplementing textbooks and other required reading; create course objectives and learning outcomes, grade all assignments, and provide detailed feedback for improvement on future work; engage students in online discussions about weekly topics and partner with advisors to assist students who are having difficulties.

Global Security Intelligence and Investigations (GSII) Counterterrorism and Dangerous Organizations (CT-DO)I assessed risk to Facebook assets, people, and reputation; created databases to effectively collect case information from GSII investigations; collaborated with policy, investigations, and online safety teams to develop methods for ensuring safety of Facebook employees and customers.

I was the Principal Investigator for research projects conducted at NCIS. Responsible for conducting research projects for criminal, cyber, and counter intelligence topics. I collected information on all Child Exploitation and Child Sexual Abuse cases within the Navy and Marines and analyzed trends across bases worldwide to assist agents in setting up proactive undercover operations. 🔶 Provided direction and clear vision for the NCIS research program. Collaborated with senior level staff as well as with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit and the Naval War College.🔶 Aided in formulating investigative proposals for undercover operations. Collected, analyzed and disseminated data for projects for field agents targeting child sexual exploitation offenders. 🔶 Publicized the research and data analysis team’s capacities to agents and analysts at NCIS field offices around the world.

I was recruited by the psychologist who supervised my undergraduate internship at the FBI BAU for the purpose of conducting research on child abduction homicide, Islamic radicalization, weapons of mass destruction, targeted violence (e.g. school shootings), and sexual assault as an Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education (ORISE) fellow. Additionally, I assisted on threat assessments and case consultations with Agents within the BAU. 🔶 I provided training materials to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as information to be used in prevention efforts. 🔶 I enabled the FBI to obtain more complete data in the Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP) system and avoid the problem of having certain questions regularly skipped during the entry process.

Stress and Anxiety ClinicClinical Graduate Supervisor:I provided direct supervision of clinical sessions and subsequent clinical feedback to graduate clinical interns.Clinical Intern:Group Therapy- Healing and Education for Adolescent Rape Trauma (H.E.A.R.T.)I created and co-led a cognitive-behavioral therapy group for adolescent survivors of sexual assault; administered and analyzed clinical interviews and other diagnostic instruments including the Trauma Symptom Checklist for Children (TSCC) and the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI).Individual Therapy- provided Cognitive Behavior focused individual therapeutic services to both University students and other adults in the local community presenting with mood and anxiety disorders; created and implemented a variety of exercises to facilitate client attainment of therapeutic goals; and administered and analyzed structured clinical interviews and other diagnostic instruments.Graduate Assistant, University of Illinois, Pathways to Disturbed Emotions: I administered trauma assessments of research participants by administering the Personality Disorder Interview (PDI) (BPD and APD sections), Interview of Childhood Experiences (ICE), and Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS); and assisted in the creation of a clinical assessment packet for the Champaign Mental Health Center. Forensic Clinical Intern, Forensic Assessment Practicum, Psychology and Law Clinic:I participated in forensic assessments of plaintiffs involved in sex discrimination and sexual harassment litigation; administered, scored and interpreted the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2), Trauma Symptom Inventory (TSI), Symptom Checklist-90 Revised (SCL-90R), Structured Clinical Interview: Non-Patient (SCID), and the In-depth Interview Schedule for Sexual Harassment; read legal documents including complaints and depositions; and wrote assessment reports.

Women’s Work Experiences Lab:I conducted sexual assault and sexual harassment research for the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences, Arlington, VA, and the Defense Manpower Data Center Survey & Program Evaluation Division, Arlington, VA; and conducted research on high school sexual harassment and sexual assault.Communities Responding to Domestic Violence Lab:I conducted research on coordinated community responses to domestic violence in the state of Illinois; and supervised undergraduate research assistants on lab projects. Community Intervention Evaluation and Research Practicum—Rantoul, IL Police Department:I partnered with a local police department to assist in evaluating the effectiveness of their police social worker program.Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center:I conducted research using case files of past and present juvenile inmates; collaborated with the superintendent at the detention center to further ongoing research projects; and supervised undergraduate research assistants on detention center projects.

Course: Community Projects—Child Assault Prevention ProjectI had sole responsibility for design and implementation of advanced level undergraduate psychology course—instructed a class of approximately 20 students; created course syllabus; lectured on weekly topics; led group discussions; assigned weekly readings and papers; and evaluated students’ contributions to the class.
