I am an Environmental Studies and Film Studies Double Major at Connecticut College. With my degree, I intend to use visual media forms such as Film and Photography to amplify issues related to the environment that require urgent social change. I first became passionate about environmental issues and injustices when I was in high school and I have aspired to play a part in changing the global ecosystem for the better. In my senior year, I composed a 33-page research paper where I explored the relationship between identity and access to clean water in the United States. Doing this type of project fueled my passion for environmental justice even more as I collected horrifying data about the inequality that is seldom discussed when addressing environmental issues. I have since taken several classes at Connecticut College to better educate myself on these inequalities. I have also joined Generation Conscious as an intern and a member of their writing team to publish articles related to environmental injustice. I hope to further expand my knowledge in the field of environmental studies and film so that I may be able to use different forms of media to spread awareness about these social issues and hopefully bring about positive change.
