Employed by the Bio-inspired Materials Laboratory at Limerick institute of technology on a self-financed contract sponsored my Enterprise Ireland to conduct research on the improvement of the safety efficiency and smoke emission of the domestic solid burning appliances (stoves) and to design and implement the test facility that assures safety and efficiency of the stoves compliance with BS EN 13240:A2 and the smoke emissions do not exceed levels prescribed by PD 6434.Under limited supervision/guidance:Managed project development and implementation.Analysed legal requirements for the production and distribution of appliancesAnalysed current state of the research and development in the area of improvement in the design of wood burning stovesDesigned a series of improvements to the base models of the appliances.Designed Laboratory set up for the test of improved appliances based based on EU standards.Procured instrumentation, materials and commissioning for the test laboratory.Managed project financesPrepared Reports and presentationsPresented findings to the stakeholders.

During the time of this project PURUS: assisted to a primary investigator in the design of the project. Solely performed everyday research tasks based on ISO 22196 “Plastics-Measurement of antimicrobial activity on plastics surfaces as well as scientific report preparations on a Purus project. The key techniques of the project: Culturing of bacteria, Preparation of test specimens. Preparation of test inoculum. Inoculation of test specimens Incubation of the inoculated test specimens, recovery of bacteria from test specimens. Determining the viable bacteria count by the pour plate culture method, Expression of results. Weekly report and final report writing.
