About Leniece K. Flowers
After a decade and a half working with social impact organizations, Leniece noticed a striking paradox. As she ascended to the top and earned a seat at the table, the more racially homogenous the rooms became. And when she looked beyond her workplace, she noticed a damning trend: across sectors, people of color were grossly underrepresented i.e. Black and Latinx employees make up only 10% of non-profit boards, 5% of senior executives at Fortune 500 companies and <5% of employees at the largest tech companies.Leniece founded Compass Talent Group to shift the culture of work. When she unearthed a pattern of unfair hiring practices, she published a thought-piece in Vox that shook HR departments nationwide. She pushed the envelope further and published an article in Quartz which the Chief Diversity Officer of Intel referred to as a "great read and call to stop arguing the business case of diversity and inclusion.” It was the top 10 most-read article in 2018. She has been featured in Psychology Today, AMEX and Citi and has spoken at graduate schools, foundations, and panels. When Leniece isn’t helping companies navigate diversity in the workplace, she spends her time raising twin toddlers, serving on non-profit boards and learning about investing. The first chapters of her career were dedicated to closing opportunity and network gaps, this next chapter will focus on closing wealth gaps for historically marginalized communities.
