Owned responsibility for AIG’s Property and Casualty Actuarial Reserving systems supporting a $43 billion loss reserve liability, after succeeding manager of 35 years. Led a global IT team of 32 in support of over 100 Actuaries worldwide. Highlights include:• Successfully migrated the loss reserving processes from Excel spreadsheets to Willis Towers Watson ResQ, accomplishing the task within a year and under 30% of the budgeted cost, resulting in savings exceeding $2 million dollars. Developed standardized reports and database extracts to deliver consistent reporting enabling information aggregation across all Reserve areas. Modernized processing by transitioning from Mainframe Cobol to a rule-based method using Hive / Oracle. Facilitated shift of team development efforts from waterfall SDLC to Rally Agile for both Scrum and Kanban initiatives.• Reduced IBM Mainframe costs from $6.4 million annually to $1.5 million annually over a 2 year timeframe.• Insured all monthly, quarterly and annual cyclical reporting of required loss reserve information was completed timely and accurately. Coordinated with Senior Actuaries, data providers, and IT teams to support ad hoc data requests and business-based system changes requested in reserve areas.• Managed all requests from internal, external and State auditors. Led data control reviews, which included walk throughs of new development and testing appropriateness to ensure suitability and completeness of controls. Generated comprehensive documentation to support meetings, audit requests, and provide insights into data governance efforts to Senior Management.
