About Leon Cilliers

As a highly skilled Front-end developer I've worked in many industries from Finance to Retail. My specialties are CSS and pure vanilla JavaScript. I have a keen interest in Interface Accessibility and Privacy. Making the web accessible and safe for all people.I started my 15+ year career as a graphic, web and Flash designer. Over about 4 years I moved over to pure programming. Doing mostly PHP along with HTML and CSS on frameworks like WordPress, Drupal, Symfony and Magento. With the death of Adobe Flash on the horizon I took my ActionScript skills into the world of JavaScript and I've never looked back.I have a wealth of knowledge on how websites should work, be it browser JavaScript engines; responsive layouts; or API security protocols — and I really enjoy sharing that knowledge. I've had many mentors in my career and I believe in paying it forward. I prefer to mentor and learn myself rather than taking over.Although I am a full-time programmer my role includes mentoring other web developers across teams and departments. We're always working on improving communication between disciplines and programming standards.
