Roles/Responsibilities:• General Duties policing - St Kilda Police Station & Dandenong Police Station• Advisory role to Victoria Police in relation to Indigenous issues.• Advisory role to Indigenous communities on issues directly relating to Victoria Police.• Liaise with Indigenous communities/Liaise with Victoria Police personnel relating to building better partnerships and understanding• Develop and maintain knowledge of Indigenous issues and communicate these with operational members, external stakeholders and organisations• Actively promote awareness within the community on the role of Victoria Police and encourage interactionKey Achievements: • Obtaining an advisory position within the office of ‘Aboriginal Advisory Unit’• Active and direct involvement in partnership building between Victoria Police and Indigenous communities.• The identification of issues of concern for both Victoria Police and the Indigenous community and contributing to strategies to address these issues• Contribution to the promotion of trust and understanding between the community and police in specific communities• Development, Co-ordination, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of Operation Newstart program• Proactive in Police Aboriginal Liaison Officer (PALO) duties whilst working within Police Stations over previous 4 + years• Ongoing critical incident management leadership experience in an ongoing capacity for duration of Police Station posting whilst General Duties Policeman
