My path as a software engineer started with my love for video games. I don't just play games... I look at everything and think about how it ticks... I want to know how every mechanism works under the hood. I didn't think this would ever transpire into anything useful, until I saw an advertisement for game programming at Devry. It seemed right up my alley, so I went for it, and I am glad I did. I was fortunate enough to have very knowledgeable professors who not only taught me the material, but also taught me how to learn. This is an invaluable skill to have since the industry is constantly changing and evolving at a rapid pace. The material I learned is mostly outdated, but the ability to learn is something I will carry with me for my entire career. I have over a decade of Software Engineering experience working on various products. I've been involved in all phases of a software's lifecycle using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies. I am currently most proficient in C#, but I learned to code in C++ and have experience in other languages. Having worked for NCR for the majority of my career, I am acutely familiar with payment processing software, the business flows and integrations.
