Leon worked as an environmental planner for Latitude Planning Services after completing his Post Graduate Diploma coursework in 2010 until April 2013.His work mainly involved consulting for Local and Central Government clients on resource consent applications, land use policy, and stakeholder engagement.Leon had experience in project management, client interfacing, preparation of large-scale comprehensive resource consent applications, and the development and analysis of planning policies.

Leon worked as a summer research assistant to Dr Eva Collins of the Waikato Management School, Department of Strategy and Human Resource Management.His work involved the collation of survey responses and informal interviews on sustainable initiatives in New Zealand small businesses over a 4-year span, and summarising analyses on sustainable business practices in New Zealand media.

Leon worked as a quality control technician in the laboratory of a pasteurisation and bottling dairy facility for Garelick Farms, a subsidiary of Dean Foods.His role involved the microbial testing and quality analysis of incoming raw milk, processed product, and bottled product. His time management, analytical thinking, group work and multitasking skills were further developed in this environment.
