- Maintain and control the most current Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) as Distributed by the Division Welding Department and created by the plant Welding Department.- Implementation of these procedures (WPS) and the completion of production welding within the specifications of the procedures (WPS)- Developing new Welding Procedures or writing Pre-Qualified Welding Procedures shall follow the guidelines of Welding Standard MWS – 1004, which requires the approval of the Division Welding Department prior to production implementation.- Determine welding best practice for processes and procedures.- Maintaining and controlling the placement of Quality Process Centers (Sample boards, moc-ups, standards and procedures)- Ensures that the most current controlled welding documents and its designated Welding Procedures are available to production management.- Manage and control welder training and certification programs per the specified guidelines of the Division Welding Department.- Ensure that all welders have met the minimum certification requirements for the production welding they have been assigned and that the appropriate certification records are maintained and controlled. Documentation of certification shall be placed in WeldOffice electronically, with a hard copy placed in the welders personnel file.- Reduction of man-hours and increase through put, through education of welder on weld size and length.- Reduction of consumables welding wire and Co2 by reducing weld sizes to meet drawing requirements.
