Initially brought on board as a Frontend Engineer at MuscleWiki, my role quickly expanded due to my proactive approach. I undertook a comprehensive revamp of the backend and infrastructure. This involved partitioning our server setup into three distinct units, each serving different functions, and employing Docker for enhanced performance and scalability.To further boost the efficiency of our API, I implemented Redis as a caching solution. This significantly improved the response times of our API.I also spearheaded a major update to our API. Transitioning from a dated methodology for view creation, I shifted the entire system to a more robust, scalable, and maintainable framework using viewset DRF classes, with Django as the foundation.On the frontend, I developed the new company website from scratch in just three months. This current version utilizes React, JavaScript, Vite, and Redux for state management. Tailwind CSS was chosen for styling, offering a sleek and modern aesthetic. Additionally, I integrated Stripe and RevenueCat for our payment systems, enhancing our e-commerce capabilities.A notable achievement was automating the translation of our entire exercise database using ChatGPT. This streamlined process, fully automated and synchronized, requires minimal intervention – simply marking content as published or, in some cases, saving the model. This innovation was not only time-efficient but also cost-effective. Traditional translation services would have cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars and taken about eight months to translate our content into 10 languages. In contrast, our method incurred less than $200 and was completed in just 32 hours.

The objective was to build a comprehensive system for a trading firm. Given the vastness of the trading market and the noticeable lack of adequate tools, the decision was made to develop everything from scratch. This included a framework for the execution and development of strategies, a backtesting tool, risk control mechanisms, a user-friendly front end, and complete automation of the trading process.The initial step involved securing a market-data provider. Following this, I programmed the backend using Django and RabbitMQ, enabling real-time quote availability for all operational strategies.The next phase focused on developing a template for strategy creation. I adopted an event-driven approach, where each quote event triggered a corresponding action, such as the generation of a new quote bar or the placement of a new order in the book.I then established a process detailing how each component should interact, ensuring that the only discretionary input required was the strategy idea itself. A significant challenge I addressed was minimizing losses from strategies that had lost their effectiveness. To tackle this, I devised a system that successfully reduced the cost of losses from outdated strategies by more than 80%.The frontend was subsequently built using React and Redux.One of the most valuable lessons from this experience was realizing that patience and calm are crucial, especially when working under immense pressure. This mindset was instrumental in successfully navigating the complexities and challenges of building a comprehensive trading system.

In my role as a freelance developer, I specialized in creating and testing algorithmic trading strategies for the forex market. My work involved developing these strategies from scratch based on clients' initial ideas or improving upon their existing systems.A significant aspect of this role was to develop frontends that enabled clients to easily monitor their trades. This user-friendly interface was crucial for clients to have a clear and real-time overview of their trading activities.The strategies themselves were meticulously coded using a combination of C++, Python, and MATLAB. These programming languages were chosen for their robustness and flexibility, allowing for the creation of sophisticated and efficient trading algorithms.On the frontend, I utilized React, known for its efficiency in building interactive user interfaces. The backend was developed using Django, which provided a powerful and scalable framework. MySQL served as the database management system, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval, which is crucial in the fast-paced trading environment.For the server, I opted for Debian due to its stability and security features, making it an ideal choice for handling sensitive financial data and transactions.Data gathering was a critical component of this role. I employed web scraping techniques and APIs from various sources like Twitter, FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data), Yahoo, and cTrader to acquire relevant market data. This comprehensive approach to data collection enabled the development of well-informed and responsive trading strategies, tailored to the dynamic nature of the forex market.

Undertaking the most formidable challenge of my career, I was tasked with creating a brick machine entirely from the ground up. The design of this machine drew inspiration from existing models, but with several enhancements to improve functionality. One of the major hurdles we faced was in the manufacturing of parts. The availability and skill level of manpower posed significant challenges, leading to an extended development period. It took nearly 18 months of persistent effort for the machine to reach a functional state.Upon achieving this milestone, I was immediately confronted with the next phase of the project: automating the machine. This endeavor was a collaborative effort with an electrical engineer. Together, we meticulously assembled all the control panels and installed the necessary sensors.For the automation programming, I chose an Arduino controller for its versatility and reliability. The frontend interface was developed using MATLAB-GUI, allowing for an intuitive and user-friendly operation of the machine. This combination of hardware and software not only brought the brick machine to life but also ensured its efficiency and ease of use. The successful completion of this project, from conception to automation, stands as a testament to the synergy of mechanical design, electrical engineering, and programming.

My role primarily revolved around the creation and management of spreadsheets for trade operations and presenting trade opportunities to clients. As an affiliate of a brokerage firm, we benefitted from having access to established systems. This infrastructure allowed us to focus on efficiently executing orders on behalf of our clients.To optimize these processes, I employed VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and MySQL. VBA was instrumental in automating and customizing the Excel spreadsheets, enabling us to manage trades with precision and ease. It allowed for the creation of user-friendly interfaces and the automation of repetitive tasks, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing the likelihood of errors.MySQL played a crucial role in handling the database management aspect of our operations. It was used to store and manage large volumes of trade data, ensuring quick access and reliable data retrieval. This combination of VBA for spreadsheet automation and MySQL for database management formed the technological backbone of our trade management and client offering system, ensuring a streamlined and effective workflow within our brokerage affiliate operations.

The core task of my role involved the development of a system designed for arbitrating dollar futures contracts and the Bovespa index. This system was innovatively crafted using an Excel spreadsheet as its primary platform.To ensure low latency, critical for the effectiveness of such financial operations, we employed a server in a colocation setup. This strategic choice significantly enhanced the speed and efficiency of our trading executions.Remarkably, evidence suggests that the same spreadsheet I developed continues to be in use today. This conclusion stems from observing consistent patterns in the offer book that match the unique strategy I implemented, and these patterns are still being utilized by the same broker.The technological backbone of this system was primarily VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), which provided the necessary automation and computational capabilities within the Excel environment. Additionally, MySQL was utilized for database management, ensuring robust and efficient handling of large datasets and complex queries. This combination of VBA and MySQL in an Excel-based environment exemplified a unique and effective approach to solving complex trading challenges in the financial sector.

The primary objective of my role was to develop a system for trading stock options of Petrobras (PETR4) and Vale do Rio Doce (VALE3), specifically designed to capitalize on price distortions. This project was at the forefront of financial automation technology.The system I created utilized Excel for its user interface and data management capabilities. For the automation aspect, I leveraged Megabolsa Automate, a technology prevalent at the time, though it has since become obsolete. This combination allowed for effective monitoring and execution of trades, demonstrating an innovative approach to leveraging available technologies for financial market operations in an era when such automation was still in its nascent stages.
