This included order entry, reserving production capacity, contract documents, communications with customers and resolving any issues after delivery of product. I specialized at various times in handling or estimating specific products including commercial windows, hurricane resistant sliding doors and curtainwall, as well as the remainder of Kawneer's product line. Projects ranged in size from fifty to more than a million dollars and I typically handled 80 to 100 projects at a time.As estimator, was responsible for handling customer quote requests, ranging from lists to full sets of blueprints. Was required to accurately develop cost estimates and bid documentation in a timely manner to meet bid deadlines. Followed up on quotations and developed value engineering options in order to increase closing rates. I spent a little over a year helping to re-introduce a previously discontinued window line. Was involved in developing initial estimating and project management procedures. Handled sold projects and eventually became responsible for reviewing and scheduling all quotation requests for the entire country outside of the east coast. Developed an Access database that allowed for instant review of estimating and sales numbers for this team and was responsible for developing a monthly report of these numbers that went directly to Corporate and was the sole means of reporting for this team. This database is still in use by Kawneer Window Estimating in Springdale. Became the de facto assistant team leader for a team of 5-8 people. Worked with Takeoff to resolve estimating/takeoff issues with new product. Was involved with the team that explored estimating alternatives that has resulted in the system that Kawneer is currently using.
