Oct 2012 - Oct 2013

Technology Evangelist & Chief Technology Officer

Jersey City, New Jersey, Us

In this position I lead IPC's technology direction for each of its business divisions. This includes the turret/dealerboard business which provides specialized trading telephone system and the network business which provides private voice and data lines for the financial market. I rejoined IPC as its CTO in 2007 after IPC’s acquisition of Westcom. In 2009, I had the privilege of leading the architecture that transformed IPC’s Alliance product into what is known today as Unigy (http://www.unigyfromipc.com/). Unigy was a $50M+ development that is a modern application server based multimedia enabled trading system that revolutionizes and future proofs IPC’s product line. IPC now has the ability to deliver higher performing and more scalable systems than ever before. Unigy also exposes web services API’s allowing feature delivery and enhancements outside IPC’s normal core development cycle giving unprecedented flexibility to its customers.Unigy was the largest development IPC had undertaken to date and involved 3 years of R&D and roughly 300 onshore and offshore developers. In addition to IPC’s own software development, I was involved in bringing in many new 3rd party and open source technologies into this architecture. These were leveraged and sometimes enhanced to bring best of breed features to the product. As the development matured, I was responsible for technical presentations to customers that showed the benefits of this new technology in terms of cost of ownership, reliability, and features.

Jun 2007 - Sep 2012

Vice President Of Research And Development

Us

Westcom is a company that historically provided private line connectivity to the financial customer. I was brought in as part of an effort to add VoIP products to Westcom's portfolio. Since I led technology development for Lexar, LLC Westcom asked me to join them as part of their Lexar, LLC acquisition. In this development and customer facing position, I was in charge of all technical aspects of that product as it was deployed globally. The position expanded to include architecture design for providing Ethernet service as well as routed services over Westcom's network. Finally I was also in charge of all corporate IT infrastructure. The new technologies, the customer base, and the enhanced product lead to the acquisition of Westcom by IPC. As part of this acquisition IPC asked me to join them as their CTO.

Mar 2006 - Jun 2007

Founder

Telecomcto, Llc

TelecomCTO is a professional services company specializing in trading floor voice systems, VoIP technology evaluation, research, implementation, and deployment. I founded TelecomCTO in 2005. The goal of the company was to bring VoIP telecom for the trading industry to its next generation using industry experience, targeted hardware, targeted software, and integration of 3rd party equipment. TelecomCTO was quickly successful and this led to a relationship with Lexar, LLC at the end of 2005. Lexar, LLC was later acquired by Westcom where I was technology lead in their VoIP effort.

May 2005 - Mar 2006

Vp Systems & Architecture

Ipc Information Systems

As chief technology leader I was responsible for technical product direction of all of IPC's products as well as technical customer presentations. My research included the VoIP industry as it relates to IPC products. This research led to the introduction of the first VoIP turret/dealerboard trading system (IQMX and Alliance). This system was eventually installed on almost every major trading floor around the world. As the SIP protocol was born I brought back SIP research and trained the development team, product management, and select customers on SIP. As a result IPC bypassed H.323 technology and delivered to market the first SIP based interface on a turret/dealerboard trading system.

Jan 1995 - May 2005

Director Of Technology

Bridge Electronics

I was asked to join Bridge Electronics by its founder to help bring acoustic echo cancellation technology into the speaker systems used by the foreign exchange trading industry. Since this was a small innovative company in a hot market that would allow me to make a large impact I joined them in 1993. DSP pricing had just come down to <$10 chip and this allowed Bridge to deliver unprecedented technology to this market in just six months. Bridge beat all other competitors in terms of sound quality and voice volume in this loud and fast paced trading environment. The competitive advantage of this new echo cancelling open microphone foreign exchange speaker system enabled Bridge Electronics to resell almost their entire customer base in just one year. This system attracted the attention of two larger dealer board companies; IPC Systems and British Telecom. IPC Systems acquired Bridge in 1994 where I was put in charge of incorporating this technology into IPC’s products.

1993 - 1994 ~1 yr

Senior Engineer

Vband Systems

VBand was my first job out of college where I quickly advanced from an entry level engineer to one of the most senior engineers in the company. At V-Band I was a lead designer in helping the company become the first turret/dealerboard company on the market to move from analog switching to a digital TDM platform ahead of the competitors such as British Telecom-Syntegra and IPC. As an electrical engineer, I designed PSTN line interfaces for VK6000, ViAX, and ViAX DN. I designed and programmed microprocessor modules using Intel 80C18x which was the heart of the various interface cards that were plugged into the ViAX DN system. I became the leader in acoustics quality design for the whole turret/dealerboard system and introduced DSP technology into the product which led into later positions in speaker system design with Bridge and IPC. Finally, I was a leader in the initial architecture of the next generation VBand product called the Global Switch Module (GSM) which used VHDL to implement a multi-plane TDM switch on FPGA’s.Another interesting innovation was that my expertise in analog technology enabled me determine how to use an inexpensive audio analog switch for video switching. This design leveraged high speed and high current differential transistor amplifiers to cancel crosstalk and noise in order to deliver high bandwidth video. Using this technology, VBand to deliver a cost effective video switch product to market.
