As the Associate Vice President for Facilities and Energy Services, Les is responsible for providing leadership, planning and management for Texas A&M University in the areas of facilities and energy services, including strategy, development, and implementation/ optimization and changes within these arenas. In addition, Les collaborates with key stakeholders, identify risks, evaluate trends and initiatives, making recommendations as appropriate to senior leadership. Les is directly responsible for ensuring that the campus operates in a way that is supportive of the campus objectives of providing the highest quality undergraduate and graduate programs which is inseparable from its mission of developing new understandings through research and creativity. Les accomplishes these objectives with a group of over 2,000 TAMU and contract team members who provide services that include landscaping, building maintenance, custodial services, utilities services, dining and construction project design / implementation. Prior to joining Texas A&M; Les served as the Chief Operating Officer for Intercede Health, Director of Project Management for Zimmer, Facilities Engineer for Intermedics Orthopedics and Plant Engineer / Facilities Manager for Mount Vernon Mills. During his career, Les has had the opportunity to participate on numerous change management and integration teams and has had direct reporting responsibility to Executive Staff and Boards of Directors.He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Masters of Business Administration from Baylor University. The combination of more than 25 years of unique experience and education gives him great insight into both the technical as well the financial aspects of business. In addition, Les is active within several industry organizations including the International District Energy Association and represents Texas A&M University at campus energy forums. He is a Certified Energy Manager with the Association of Energy Engineers, and an Educational Facilities Professional with Association of Physical Plant Administrators. In the past, Les has also held certifications as a Certified Plant Engineer with the Association of Facilities Engineers and a Certified Facilities Manager with the International Facilities Management Association.
