As a long-time employee of Broken Arrow Public Schools, with PreK-12 experience, I have the confidence to communicate effectively and develop relationships with students, parents, and staff. I am interested in advancing my career by learning from and supporting our team of principals, and coaching teachers in educating, equipping, and empowering our students through a trauma-informed, culturally competent lens. Throughout my career as an educator, I have sought out professional development that supports all students. As a result, I’ve received numerous certificates of training including LGBTQ+, Managing Aggressive Behavior, Mental Health First Aid, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, and more. Knowledge gained became the cornerstone of my classroom management by opening conversations with students that build trust, promote communication skills, and improve self-confidence. As a teacher these skills have led me to successfully lead our FCS teaching team, and as assistant principal, these skills will transfer to leading and coaching teachers and staff, in addition to guiding parent and student discussions.At Broken Arrow High School, I have provided trauma-informed professional development to our teachers and staff, created a program, Coffee Talk, that supports social-emotional needs of teachers and encourages them to engage with one another in order to build trust and respect. And, as a member of the MTSS team, I am assisting in developing opportunities that will continue to build teacher confidence when teaching mental health, trauma, and suicide prevention to our students.
