Responsible for the Planning and Engineering of the infrastructure for Data Center, Central Office, and Collocation sites in my area creating the Engineering Specifications for all equipment and infrastructure being installed. Submit the RFQs to the equipment and installation vendors, order the material and labor in Oracle, work with the Project Manager to scheduling the installation, modeling the equipment in either Metasolv TBS or Granite Xpercom depending on the site, and making sure NVT forms and “as-build” records are completed to ensure the quality of the installation before closure. Have created Engineering Packages for Juniper MX960, M120, M10i, EX4200 routers and switches, Cisco 7206, 12416, ASR routers, catalyst switches, Adtran TA5000, Lucent DMX, Fujitsu 4100, and Ciena 8700 transport equipment, HP DL360 and Dell servers.As a DACS Engineer, responsible for the Planning and Engineering of all of the DACS in the network, monitoring the capacity and usage of all of the DACS and forecast the capacity needed to maintain the growth of the network. Create yearly DACS capacity and budget plan which include core expansions, new builds, decommissions, and/or capacity augments for the next year and accounts for the projected BAU growth of the network as well as the transport facility and switch augments forecasted per site. Manage DACS capacity augments from conception to completion creating the project plan, submitting the RFQs to the equipment and installation vendors, creating the Engineering Package, order the material and labor in Oracle, work with the Project Manager to scheduling the installation, modeling the equipment in either Metasolv TBS or Granite Xpercom depending on the site and making sure NVT forms and “as-build” records are completed to ensure the quality of the installation before closure.

Develop and implement SONET and DWDM ring architecture and equipment requirements for data and voice switching transport networks. Submit RFQ’s to, evaluate, and approve the equipment and installation vendor for each assigned project. Create detailed Engineering Packages for each project which include the Scope of Work (SOW), detailed equipment specifications and drawings, fiber, electrical, DSX, and power assignments of the equipment, commissioning, and the overall ring drawing of the network detailing line loss (dB levels) and fiber lengths. Model equipment in both the Metasolv TBS and Granite Xpercom databases. Engineer SONET networks using Lucent’s DMX, 2.5, and 10G systems and Nortel’s OC-48 Classic and 6500 systems.

Primarily responsible for being involved in and ensuring transport requirements for various projects in my region creating Transport Engineering Plans to include all transport requirements to support the traffic requirements for each project. This includes analyzing traffic requirements from theTraffic Engineering group, coming up with the transport requirements, submitting RFQs to vendors for long haul transport, and creating the designs and associated work orders. These projects include direct wireless-to-wireless connectivity to other wireless carriers, the installation and/or upgrading of equipment including Ericsson BSCs and MSCs, Alcatel Media Gateways and Alcatel Call Servers; and the addition or rehoming of traffic to the equipment. Am also responsible for completing designs in Granite for work orders that are assigned to me, working with MTSO technicians to troubleshoot issues, and audit DACS cross-connect information to verify what is in the Granite/Cramer database.

Involved in a three week project where I created and updated DS3 circuits and OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, and OC-192 UPSR and BLSR rings in Granite Xng for various customers using Alcatel’s 1677 SONET Link Platform, the 1631 LMC, and the 1603 SONET Multiplexer.

Responsible for “business as usual” work including completing work orders in Nordis as they come in and updating and maintaining the database in Excel and Xng. Was also involved in multiple projects where I would be the key person to make all of the equipment configuration and circuit assignments. Designed T1 circuits from Ericsson and Nortel MSC switches to LEC tandem offices for new PSTN, IMT, 911, and 800 trunk groups or as an augment to an existing trunk group making the necessary DACS and T3 assignments to the LEC carrier along with the switch assignments. Also made T1 Abis interface designs to BTS cell sites.

Computer consultant where I provided in-shop and on-site computer repair and small LAN services to home and small businesses including Ethernet and WLAN installation, data back-up and recovery, and virus removal.

Was the “go-to” person for technical issues concerning the FLASH192. Performed over ten presentations on subject matter, which included SONET, existing and new products lines, and the company.
