Assigned to J.P. Morgan for 3 months to assist a colleague re-engineering the interface between the Solarc RightAngle and their other trading systems. Developed SQL procedures and scripts using Microsoft SQL Server and developed on-screen reports using the PowerBuilder development environment.Worked on the systems selection for an Energy Trading/Risk Management system for Grupa LOTOS in Poland at their Gdansk oil refinery. Taking function requirements, wrote a RFP document that was distributed to vendors to produce a short list for demonstrations. Developed complex spreadsheets to collate vendor responses to aid the selection of the short list of vendors to be selected to demonstrate their systems. Developed the “Proof of concept” scenario scripts that the vendors were to use to demonstrate that their systems could meet the requirements of the client.

Working on implementing and developing custom interfaces for an Allegro ETRM (Energy Trading Risk Management) system for Bord Gais Energy in Cork, Irelend to cover Electricity, Gas and Carbon trading and risk management. Interfaces were windows services written using VB.Net, connecting using web services to a Oracle database. Services included two-way interfaces with the gas network for capacity bookings; forward automation of gas, electricity and carbon trades (at daily and half hourly granularity) and based on forward projections of demand requirements; Data replication interfaces with other Bord Gais databases (SQL Server); Complex trader limits notifications.Used Allegro ETRM version 8, VB.NET, Oracle v10 and SQL Server.

A system that completely handled the mission critical and CRM aspects of the Tramp Group's marine fuel, marine lubricants and aviation fuel business - from capture of the initial enquiry, through order negotiation and nomination of 3rd party suppliers, arranging of barging, confirmation of orders, generating calling instructions, logging of delivery receipts, raising of invoices, customer chasing, finance charge calculations for late payment and a whole host more.Development undertaken using CA-OpenROAD for client-side and an Ingres database hosted on a Windows server (originally SCO Unix) and interfacing with 3rd party products, such as MS-Word, fax scheduling systems, an accounts system (both feeding and retrieving information) email etc.Duties included everything to do with the system, from working closely with the traders, credit control staff and senior managers to identify needs. Developing in a RAD environment (Rapid Application Development) solutions to these problems/enhancements; Testing; End-user training; System support; Ad-hoc reporting etc.. In addition, being part of a small team (Senior Developer, IT Manager and an Assistant Systems Administrator), was involved all aspects of the company's IT, including networking, Windows/Word/Excel etc. support, Internet and Email trouble shooting etc.In addition to the oil trading system, supported the accounts department with ad-hoc reporting from their accounting system. This system used the Microsoft SQL Server database. Writing of SQL scripts and system support duties undertaken on this system.
