I am a proud first-generation Latina dedicated to fostering student success and growth within the education system. Driven by the need for educational equity, my passion and desire to create a meaningful impact in the lives of students is what has guided my journey thus far. Since receiving my B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Applied Psychology from UCSB, I have gained important professional experience allowing me to hone in on a diverse skill set including problem solving, customer service, and strong interpersonal skills. My current position as a certificated substitute teacher has not only given me hands-on experience working with students in grades K-12, but it has also broadened my understanding of the deeply rooted socioeconomic barriers that countless students face. As someone who faced many of these barriers growing up and throughout my academic career, I aim to transform that experience into a tool which will allow me to build meaningful relationships and provide unwavering support and guidance to students wanting to pursue their dreams.My goal is to segue into higher education where I can make complete use of my insight and skills, working with students to be a pillar of support and help them reach their full potential.
