MÁV-csoport is the integrated group of companies comprising of the Hungarian national railway infrastructure manager (7000+ km tracks), the national railway passenger operator MÁV-Start, the national bus operator (6000+ buses) Volánbusz as well as the in-house shared service center MÁV SZK and several smaller entities related to railway infrastructure and adjacent services.

The secretariat is responsible for helping to design and implementing HU government policy on public transport. Experts have oversight of passenger and freight transport by rail, buses, air transport and ships. The secretariat also regulates road, air and rail transport and involved in the strategic oversight of the nation integrated railway infrastructure manager, rail passenger transport operator and bus operator, the MÁV-Volán group.

NKK, formerly known as BFK Budapest Development Agency was responsible for elaborating the Budapest metropolitan regional transport strategy (until 2040) focusing on major railway infrastructure and rolling stock developments of the national railway network and the suburban railway network (HÉV) in and around Budapest. Designs for the projects highlighted worth EUR 4bn in the strategy were commissioned during this 2-year period.

MTÜ Hungarian Tourism Agency is now responsible for planning, preparing and managing a wide range of development projects focusing on tourism infrastructure among which (public) transport projects play a vital role.My responsibility covers planning and managing all transport-related projects of the Agency and together with my team we advise the transportation dimension of attraction development projects and strategic planning.

BKK is the transport-organising authority of Budapest, the capital city of Hungary.Directly reported to the CEO. Number of direct reports: 4 in a department of 95.My job was to found the newly created directorate, integrate the following activities with various roots into a single organization: press communications, marketing communications, customer communications, application development, wayfinding and signage, sales technology development and the automated fare collection (AFC) project – laying down the foundations of the future of customer experience.Key achievements: o Built up a 90+ FTE flexible, adaptive, high-performing organization; o Introduced the term “customer” in communications representing a new philosophy; o Created and supervised proactive online presence – Facebook followers up from 20.000 to 103.000 o Created and executed the first ever sales strategy in the life of public transport in Budapest; o Supervised the sales/HR transformation of ticket sales staff to the new customer service centers; o Successful procurement and implementation of 300 ticket vending machines - 50% of sales transactions conducted through this new channel in just 9 months worth EUR 30m generating extra EUR 4m revenue; o Technology transformation of ticket/pass sales thereby offering full product portfolio at all points-of-sale; o Secured the financing of the AFC project through a loan worth EUR 54.5m from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, prepared its feasibility study, supervised procurement under EBRD Procurement Policy, successfully awarded the contract as per the approvals of the bank, the board of directors and the Assembly of Budapest; o Rolled out of a number of online tools/apps at bkk.hu (BKK Info, Waze, real-time data exchange with Google); o Introduced a single signage and wayfinding system in Budapest (incl. new metro logo); o Introduced IT solutions for more effective work and external services (e.g. fleet management);

Key achievements:o active help in setting up a municipal corporation’s processes and IT from zero based on previous preparatory work (see NGO activities);o elaborating and implementing the concept of centralised press, marketing and customer communications; o funding the automated fare collection (AFC) project;o setting up the AFC project team;o defining the strategic concept of the future Budapest AFC system; as approved by the board of directors and the Assembly of Budapest in early 2012.o supervising the ticket vending machine project, elaborating the financial solution (supplier financing; value EUR 10m with 5-year operations worth EUR 9m).

Tracked legislative activity, wrote speeches, amendments to reports. Managed MEP’s Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE Committee) and Foreign Affairs/Security and Defense (SEDE subcommittee) participation. Advised MEP on voting and represented the MEP during formal meetings with registered lobbyists. Advised the MEP in theoretical and practical legislative matters in judicial and police cooperation, counterterrorism, data protection, cybercrime, security and defense; liaisedwith other MEPs’ offices, committee coordinators, committee bureaux, other EU institutions (i.e. EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator’s office, Europol, European Commission).Key achievements:o full overview and application of the whole EU legislation process, including internal European Parliament processes and modus operandi just when the Lisbon Treaty came into forceo a number of successful shadow report coordinationo organized a hearing on “The Future of EU Intelligence and Internal Security”
