I started this journey as a seasonal cashier in 2019, and in these five years I was able to move up to become the youngest leader in the store. I am currently the customer operations and payment leader at IKEA Portland. My job roles include steering the team, making sure all cashiers have sufficient support, running all breaks, watching the floor, assisting customers with problems and questions in a timely manner. I am in charge of opening and closing the store, making sure money is all accounted for correctly and dealing with our accountant. I also am one of the only leaders that knows all of the customer service departments, including our home delivery, online orders, external furniture pick up orders, returns, and resolutions. I regularly assist these apartments on top of my own duties as a customer service leader. I help train new coworkers in these departments to make sure that they are set up for success in their new roles. I am one of the leaders that is does our interviewing and on boarding new team members in our department.
