I am currently in my 3rd year of a PhD Programme in Particle Physics at Royal Holloway, University of London, working on the ATLAS experiment of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.My research consists of performing data analysis to investigate the production of a Higgs bosons in association with top quarks, one of the rarest production mechanisms, using the full Run 2 dataset. This analysis focuses on the Higgs boson decaying to a pair of b quarks, but a combination with other possible Higgs decays is also planned to be performed. This Higgs channel is crucial for measuring the strength of the coupling between the Higgs boson and the top quark, thereby testing the consistency of the Standard Model.I also will make use of part of the 14 TeV collisions dataset, currently being collected during the LHC Run 3, to further investigate this important Higgs production mechanism. Incorporating LHC Run 3 data will allow much-increased precision of such tests and could point to signs of physics beyond the Standard Model.Alongside my analysis work, I also work on the ATLAS Inner Detector Trigger, where I am trying to further optimise the two-stage track reconstruction for tau signatures. I am also a member of the Seminar Committee for the Centre for Particle Physics at RHUL, in which I assist in the organisation of seminars on topics in accelerator physics and both theory and experimental high energy physics.I will be on Long Term Attachment at CERN from January 2022 to March 2023.
