Lead consultant within the Data Practice, providing expertise and guidance to multiple clients on their Data Transformation projects.

Internal consultant roleI own the reporting element of a multimillion Pound contract to deliver initially agreed objectives and spearhead further improvements and developments. The reporting system uses a multi-facetted PowerBI report embedded in the client’s website and utilises the appropriate ETL process to gather data from many different sources. Under my stewardship this strategic dashboard is more streamlined and has clearer and more insightful visualisations. Further improvements to integrate the clients corporate formatting into the dashboard are currently pending approval.I am driving the reporting and analytics element of large geo-spatial data project, working closely with the client to understand their requirements and develop detailed specifications. Early prototypes of a dedicated analytics database use these specifications to simplify the main operational database to facilitate client-side analytics. Working in Tableau I am developing tools that leverage this analytics database to embed dynamic and interactive dashboards within the client’s website to ensure a single version of the truth available to all departments from a single data source.

Lead a small team working towards a digital, connected future for Duo. Appraised all operating systems in use and proposed for the future to guarantee all system data outputs are incorporated into the data lake and warehouse. Built tools to automate reporting then leveraged the data in detailed analysis and modelling for actionable business insight.Managed project to take telematic data from heavy plant machinery and connected static plant equipment from multiple OEMs and make the data available to all business and site managers in relevant reports and dashboards, in mobile and desktop formats, and predefined output formats to link into other operating systems.Worked on my own initiative to build new relationships within a new industry. Involved in two podcasts discussing the emergence of telematics analysis in construction. Worked closely with suppliers to further develop their data offerings.

An internal consultant role within the Flybe Head Office.Example projects for the Flight Operations Team- Analysed multiple data points for 250k flights to accurately model the most cost-effective speed (Cost Index) to fly, also considering crew and aircraft maintenance costs. Delivered a cloud-based tool for flight crew to calculate the Cost Index based on actual flight plan. Implemented Power BI tool for Flight Ops to monitor and quantify savings.- Established a process for extensive analysis of flight data to better forecast flight times. When back tested, the model showed much greater accuracy, which when integrated into the schedule, would reduce fuel burn on routes that were previously too short, airport fees on those that were too long, and inherent stress in the whole system.- Carried out audit of fuel carry by route and flight routing and the cost of fuel at airports to model optimum fuel carry. Improved the instructions to flight crew, developed reporting for Flight Ops to monitor and quantify savings. Example projects for the Commercial Team- Built a cloud hosted, automatically updating Power BI tool to open and cleanse invoice data to enable identification of the costs to be re-billed to franchise partners, releasing £1.7m of held revenue, and around £300k per month.- Analysed historical inflight sales to a model to the impact of cancelling poor selling lines, with expected uptake on similar items, with related price changes. Proposed a new menu with 30% fewer lines, retaining a healthy amount of product diversity, with a modelled modest increase in profit. Menu was adopted and put on board.- Modelled the costs and benefits of proposed loyalty programmes, joined negotiations with programme providers.

Project Manage and own the new “Small Flex” product for the Mid-Market Sales team. Provided the technical oversight on the development, checking and testing of an Excel VBA tool to modify existing pricing outputs. Worked with Legal and Compliance departments to oversee contract terms and conditions to satisfy internal governance, Contract Law and OFGEM regulations. Developed the internal training materials and led the education for the teams selling the product. Responsible product progress reporting senior stakeholders. Visited Third Party Intermediaries (Brokers) to educate on the features and benefits of the product. Ensured risks associated with the product to the business were documented correctly and understood by senior stakeholders, and risks to customers were fully explained to comply with regulatory bodies.Product Development projects also included:- Investigate and present findings to senior management on into the feasibility and potential workings of a new product to allow larger customers to hedge a Non-Energy Cost.- Advise a cross-functional team considering offering customer forensic account audits to recover past overpayments. Provide operational guidance on how the procedures should work.Responsible for managing the maintenance and development of pricing models for the Bespoke Pricing team, including models with advanced Excel VBA functions and Access tools.

Oversee and provide technical support for the creation, development and maintenance of custom sales planning, customer targeting and reporting tools.- My process for this was to understand the need or brief for the forecasting model or tool required, and any input data, and present stakeholders with an outline of what the output should look like. With their feedback, I oversaw the streamlining of the process for creation of the report or output, often using advanced Excel VBA coding to efficiently automate regular tasks. Finally I sought full stakeholder approval and sign off, before ensuring complete but concise documenting of the procedures, and handing the tool over for regular processing and maintenance.Develop tools for other business units, such as a Market Intelligence gathering tool serving the needs of various internal teams.Investigate and improve old operational procedures, and write executive summaries and briefing papers for upper management approval.Assemble virtual teams to respond to bespoke and complex tenders, framework agreement and basket pricing groups, managing the relevant inputs from various departments including Legal, Revenue Management and Service Development to ensure market competitive tenders were delivered to tight deadlines.

Responsible for building, testing and developing custom systems for reconciliation of trades, fees, revenue, interest and cash for multiple trading desks. Produce reports for trading staff, corporate accountants and regulatory bodies. Further reporting developed specifically for shareholders, CEO and CFO enable them to concisely see and understand open trading positions and risks to the company. Proposed mitigating actions when appropriate. Provide support to the COO when joining new trading exchanges and dealing with new regulatory legislation. Liaise with bankers, lawyers and accountants to ensure all submissions were compliant.
