My time at KAAL-TV was full of valuable learning experiences. As a multimedia journalist, I shot video, wrote, and edited the majority of my stories.

While working on the desk at WBBM-TV, I helped newsroom staff with a variety of tasks. My biggest responsibility was to make phone calls on stories and gather as much information for producers and reporters. I also ran scripts from the newsroom to the anchors in the studio. At least once a week I would field produce with a photographer.

My internship with WIFR-TV in Rockford was very hands-on which gave me the opportunity to learn skills that I had not learned in previous internships or in classes. Each day I accompanied reporters into the field gathering information for stories either through interviews or shooting images. A few times I was able to shoot my own video and perform the interview on my own. There were several instances where I was able to write copy for broadcast using INEWS as well as edit clips for broadcast using Avid Editing Systems. I was also responsible for running the prompter each evening and placing stories online using Clickability.

As an intern at WBBM-TV, my main area of work was at the assignment desk. I was responsible for answering phones, researching story tips, logging tapes, setting up interviews, and assisting reporters and producers with other various tasks. I also field produced for several stories, mainly press conferences, relating to a range of topics.

While interning at WGN-TV, I assisted the Director of Regional Sponsorships by creating drafts for reader copy, press releases, and web widgets. I worked on several WGN-TV sponsored contests and promotions such as, "Early Bird Special," "Hellcats Cheerleading Video Contest," "Zanie's Comedy Contest," and many more, from the creation of rules through the final steps of execution. I also attended and worked WGN-TV sponsored events such as “The 9th Annual Back to School Kids Fair,” “North side/South side Hottest Fan Contest” event at Rebel Bar, and “The Entourage/WGN-TV Party.”

Worked with LimeGreen employees on "The Art of Design presented by EFFEN Vodka," McDonald's "What We're Made Of" and "The 48 Hour Film Project."
