- Leading team of 6 - ranging from those completely inexperienced in conservation up to ecology and conservation university graduates.- Surveying areas to identify protected species of fauna and flora as well as highlighting the location of any invasive species.- Developing plans for green spaces to improve accessibility to increase use by locals whilst encouraging wildlife without impacts habitats.- Reintroducing native species of wildflower and trees to help species dwindling in numbers to thrive and missing species to return to the areas.- Running volunteer sessions with local residents and community groups to show the work in their area and getting them involved and educated with basic conservation techniques.

- Working out on rough terrain in all weather, often with miles of hiking to work site.- Leading teams of other volunteers to undertake larger more demanding projects.- Carrying out projects in sensitive nature reserves within the Peak District National Park.- Pioneering techniques to fit specific habitats to create positive change in promoting particular native species, helping to capture carbon, stopping peat erosion and reducing flooding.

- Managing working relationships with up to 5 different arboricultural companies concurrently.- Working flexibly on jobs ranging from trimming of extensive historical hedges through to sensitive aerial pruning of trees of up to 80 foot height which are set in conservation areas of have a TPO (tree protection on them).- Often working abnormal hours for particular jobs where daytime or weekday working wouldn’t be productive, such as carrying out at night due to the need for road closures on busy routes.- Being responsible for my work diary as well as tax returns being self-employed - recording mileages, purchases and other expenses.
