Working together within a dedicated team of six engineers while reporting to the Head of Engineering. My role as a mechanical design engineer requires me to design, update and improve existing products, whilst developing new products for future projects. Key Responsibilities• Undertake to write up and review all technical documentation such as, product specifications, FMEA, feasibility studies, compliance standard reports, functional and detailed design review reports• Develop test reports for new and existing products• Designing components and sending them external or internal tooling • Designing of a mechanical powered hinge that replaces the existing product which resulted in a potential of £1 million cost saving.• Assembly and testing of prototypes to ensure they meet the design specifications and requirements.• Redesign of existing stairlift products to improve manufacturing and reduce costs• Undertake and review of tolerance analyses on components• Became the go-to engineering expert for any project requiring FEA and structural analysis.• Working in a multi discipline team including electrical engineers, production engineers, test technicians, quality control and purchasing.• Attend and chair meetings for suppliers and customers giving project updates while ensuring that costs and timescales are adhered too.• Certificated in BS8888 Draughting Principles

Being an integral part of the Airdeck team from conception to having a finalised product ready for market required me to use all the skills that I had to assist the team in all aspects of the development of the Airdeck system. By implementing an Engineering Governance Process into the company ensured that the relevant engineering processes and principles were adhered to. This ensured that the design of the product was correctly managed and was fully compliant with all Health & Safety legislation for working at height. Key Responsibilities• Managed all phases of the design process for the Airdeck system from component design to assemblies and sub-assemblies. This including doing detailed drawings of the Airdecks system fabricating prototypes and documenting all results.• Completed all relevant documentation related to the product following the implemented Governance Process, from product specifications, functionality specifications, risk assessments, compliance standards and detailed design reviews. • Carried out all FEA and structural analysis on the Airdeck system using manual calculations and Autodesk Inventor. This included making recommendations in final product reports.• Design and innovate the existing product to improve the overall functionality which made the product more user friendly.• Attended meetings with manufactures to ensure the Airdeck system came within the budget and time constraints.
