Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) Rising Star 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.I'm an Australian and New Zealand registered patent attorney and Partner at FB Rice, practicing in the fields of biotechnology, drug development and agritech. I provide an extensive range of intellectual property services to clients, including: formulating commercially-focussed IP strategies; implementing patent filing strategies from drafting through to management of global patent portfolios; coordinating patent oppositions; advising on and obtaining extension of patent term for pharmaceutical patents; preparing and prosecuting plant breeder's rights (PBR) applications; providing complex advice on PBR matters; and advising on due diligence, validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate matters.I have experience working with a range of clients both domestically and abroad, including start-up companies, universities, not-for-profit and government research institutes, as well as large multi-nationals. My areas of scientific expertise include genetic and genomics, animal and plant breeding, RNAi interference, gene therapies, diagnostics, vaccine development, immunology and therapeutics, and I have a particular interest in the Agtech sector. I have a PhD from The University of Sydney for research related to genetic linkage mapping & QTL analysis in saltwater crocodiles which was conducted within the Faculty of Veterinary Science at University of Sydney and the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory of the University of Georgia, USA. I also hold a BScAg (Hons) from The University of Sydney.
