Leigh has over 35 years experience in a variety of dental environments in the UK and abroad and is passionate about oral health being integral to overall health and wellbeing. Both clinically and with coaching Leigh aims to help people help themselves to have a healthier smile for life. Working with people to identify personal risk indicators and enabling them to take control and support them to improve their oral and overall health . Leigh has experience in hospital and community dental services and health promotion, as well as general, specialist private and NHS dental practices. She has recently contributed to the latest version (4th) of Delivering Better Oral health, an evidence based toolkit to support dental teams in improving their patient’s oral and general health. Leigh is currently involved with UK wide Mouth Care Matters End of Life steering group and is always seeking opportunities to improve oral health.As Principal of the School of Dental Hygiene at Queens University, Belfast she was involved in education and training for all dental team members at under and post graduate level and continues to be involved in education, lecturing and training throughout the UK and Ireland.Leigh has particular interests in Minimal Intervention Dentistry, Periodontal therapy, and Preventive dentistry. She regularly attends continuing education in the UK, Ireland and the USA and believes in providing quality, individually focused oral health care. Alongside her oral health coaching business (Growing Smiles) Leigh continues to work in clinical dental practice.
