“Li has a US teacher certification, and a QTS certification. He received his M.arch in Architecture from University of California, Los Angeles, and his B.arch in Architecture from Hefei, China. Li was an architectural designer based in Pasadena, CA before his teaching career. He taught PYP Visual Art and MYP Design & Technology in China and was a show set design director for and drama production. Right now, he is a MYP design teacher in Casablanca, Morocco.”Art and Design are my passions , and I am happy to share my unique skill sets with students, as my journey to becoming a design teacher has been rather unique. During my time in UCLA graduate program - Suprastudio, I studied how to enhance the aesthetic performance of architecture through the integration of media technology, the technology I’ve learnt includes but not limited to 3D Modeling, 3D Print, Projection Mapping, Arduino & Sensors and Video Editing. These technologies, together with my 3 years of work experience in LA’s theme entertainment industry after graduation, have brought me so many exciting opportunities to create and reinterpret art through cross-disciplinary design principles. I am always looking for ways to keep my personal skills updated so I can continue to relate to my student’s struggles and achievements as they learn.The experiences I’ve had above before teaching have given me a strong prerequisite understanding of effective course planning, evaluation of student outcomes and assessments, development of effective units of inquiry, and teaching a wide range of age levels and abilities. I would love to teach collaboratively with other specialists under the Design framework, and I have to admit that the MYP Design Circle with 4 criterias has taught me a lot; I have introduced digital art media such as stop motion animation and projection mapping into the classroom, which has given me good insight into what tech-savvy digital natives find naturally compelling. I want to hear the school's vision for design class, and see how I can integrate my knowledge from a designer’s perspective. As a big PBL + ATL fan with a strong passion for interdisciplinary stage production, the most recent productions the students and I have designed include “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and “The Little Prince.” It will be my life long mission to explore all kinds of approaches to learning.
