Research on signaling pathways underlying cardiac hypertrophy with a specific focus on testing novel therapeutics to moderate beta-adrenergic signaling. Key techniques included: primary cell culture, quantitative western and northern, in-vivo imaging using micro-ultrasound, ELISA, and cAMP assay. Primary finding that a novel agonist of G-protein coupled receptor kinase could mitigate pathological changes typically observed within the heart in animal models of heart disease.

Research on the developmental signaling pathways regulating cranio-facial development with specific focus on the Notch signaling pathway. Primary techniques included: tissue explant culture, immunohistology, electron and confocal microscopy and genetic crosses. Key finding of critical role for Notch signaling cascade within the periderm cell layer of the developing mouth to restrict cellular adhesion between tips of developing palatal shelves.
