I successfully determined new engineering opportunities on the next models of Triumph's largest engine platform while serving as a senior team member. This was achieved by carrying out an in-depth review of component design, manufacturing process research and business decision-making. In addition, I was responsible for numerous operations, including alternator and transmission design, track endurance, electrical performance and clutch abuse testing. Throughout my time in the role, I supported younger engineers and work experience students in their professional development and instilled a passion for engineering.Key Accomplishments:● I successfully project managed a team of four senior engineers through the concept design of a transmission system, alongside having my own design responsibilities, by using DFMEA and MS Project. The design provided a cost saving of up to £600,000 per annum and a 0.5kg mass saving per bike.● I reduced powertrain costs by over £200 per bike by collaboratively identifying and presenting innovative design concepts to senior management.● During overseas track testing, I managed a team of technicians and test riders for three projects simultaneously. This provided such a high improvement in test efficiency that Triumph decided to send an engineer to any future overseas track testing.● I developed and supported two undergraduate engineers to successfully complete their industrial placement year and receive formal accreditation.

I acted as a part of the powertrain design team on the award-winning Speed Triple and Tiger 1200. I ensured projects were completed within an agreed timeframe and scope of work. This included conducting large amounts of durability testing on the first bikes with Triumph Shift Assist. I executed key areas of design responsibility that included exhaust silencer, gearbox, flywheel, alternator and engine cover. I served as a focal point for track endurance, electrical load, starter system, noise, and general durability testing. I designed a friction device within a gearbox to reduce 1st gear engagement noise.Key Accomplishments:● I maintained the cost and electrical output of the previous models by designing a new alternator and cover through cooperation with the supplier whilst saving over 0.8kg.● Carried out an in-depth investigation into changing from aluminium to plastic end caps on the exhaust silencer, providing a mass saving of 0.6kg.

Working in a large group of people meant it was imperative to communicate and work well with all other staff. Working split shifts showed my commitment to the job as well as working in different departments to help out when short staffed. As well as working in the cafeteria I also worked in the cafe/bar where I was given the responsibility of both cashing and locking up.

I played an integral role in collaboratively supporting a team of sixth form students who were going to design a car for the eco-car race. During this work, I improved students’ professional practices and engineering knowledge by organising sessions regarding new design ideas. I gained hands-on experience as a technician with engine builds, test setup and in-service testing. As an engineer I managed a range of powertrain durability tests for OEM customers, developing clear and concise presentation techniques when discussing test data with a language barrier.Key Accomplishments:● I ensured the effective car designing by delivering presentations on general engineering knowledge.

At this job I dealt face to face with customers improving my people skills and working under pressure during busy periods. Occasionally I was asked to supervise the tills which improved my leadership skills.

I ensured that students learnt correct grammar, writing, and reading comprehension. I did this by developing engaging and informative lessons for a class of students varying in age with no previous exposure to English. I was held accountable for answering student questions, tracking student progress, and teaching students the importance of English. I devised alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding by working directly with students and parents.Key Accomplishments:● I embedded an enthusiasm to learn the English language.
