Social Media EditorThe Glasgow Guardian Aug 2017 - Jul 2018Glasgow, United KingdomAs Social Media Editor, my general role was to promote the newspaper’s content through its social media pages - Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter. I created and implemented relevant campaigns on a regular basis - such as LGBT History Month, and the newspaper’s 85th anniversary campaign in which I utilised the university’s archive services to create a week of content. My voluntary role also involved liaising with the newspaper’s content editors to ensure their views were representedonline, as well as university departments which provided collaborative work between thenewspaper and the university. Whilst being involved with the digital side of the paper, I also wrote a couple of articles to help me understand the writing process.Alongside the Online Editor, I managed the Online Team who assisted us in uploading and sharing articles online. At the end of each week, both myself and the Online Editor created a schedule for posts to go on our website and social media pages for the next week. This involved analysing user engagement online and catering posting times to when our pages are the busiest. I gained extensive Wordpress experience in this role as well, and frequently used analytic tools to assess user engagement.
