Key Account Manager
CurrentIn my current role as key account manager I oversee one of Materion biggest accounts, I developed and grew the account by focusing on the needs of the customer and encouraging the client to embrace our vision of how a key account should be developed, supported and serviced. This was obtained on a number of levels, working with key personnel, including technicians, engineers, managers and directors and developing strong relationships with them. A whole process approach, bottom-up.In order for these relationships to be successful, knowledge of our products, manufacturing techniques and services has been paramount. One of the most beneficial areas includes the fact I was a presence on site and was able to work at the customer’s equipments sets. This gave me first hand knowledge into how our customer operates and how we could meet their needs. This was a major factor in building their trust. Managing customer relationships is monitored on a daily basis, working across multiple sites. I have been adaptable and flexible in meeting expectations of our valued customer. I oversee these relationships using multiple management tools, from running account action forms, priority lists, quality review calls and monthly web ex’s.As with any key account, assessing, clarifying and validating a partners relationship is crucial, we must remain visionary in our outlook, focusing on what is not only important to them and us, but balancing that with the end customer. My experience to date gives me a unique insight into our customers who is also our partners. Conflict is a natural process within any organization, and the resolution is never easy, but an open and honest approach has always worked. It comes down to aligning our vision with theirs, of course there will be times when it does not align and good negotiation skills come into play. A business strategy I embrace, is to be part of the solution rather than the problem, even if the problem is not ours.
