I am an associate construction solicitor at Archor LLP. I help construction clients - including employers, contractors, sub-contractors - to avoid and resolve disputes on their projects. My prior experience working in the construction industry means that I can quickly grasp the commercial drivers and technical issues underlying disputes and give practical advice to guide clients to a favourable outcome. I can also provide non-contentious construction advice, including drafting and reviewing contracts and ancillary documents such as collateral warranties.I enjoy helping clients to avoid disputes in fast-paced and dynamic situations with a view to achieving a commercial outcome and preserving project relationships. I also have a particular interest in adjudication, which provides many construction clients with a forum resolve disputes swiftly and relatively cost-effectively.Recent examples of my practice include:- Acting for a defendant building contractor in a multi-defendant claim for alleged defects in a residential building project issued in the Technology and Construction Court.- Successfully acting for a main contractor in a claim for improperly withheld retention under a JCT Minor Works contract.- Successfully representing a contractor referring party in an adjudication regarding the wrongful termination of a JCT Construction Management contract and for damages for the same.- Recovering significant sums due to an engineering consultant following the issue of a statutory demand to the developer.- Advising a sub-contractor regarding its right to terminate a JCT Sub-Contract where the contractor had not paid historic applications and was in administration.- Advising a main contractor regarding its claim for an extension of time for the employer's failure to obtain a highways licence under an amended JCT Design and Build contract.- Advising a group of leaseholders in a block of flats where the fire risk had been assessed as "intolerable" as to their rights under the Building Safety Act 2022.- Advising a specialist sub-contractor on the terms of a complex letter of intent where the contractor had entered into administration and the employer proposed to engaged the sub-contractor directly.In December 2020 I was awarded an MSc Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from Kings College London.
