About Liam Hunt

Preventing the loss of skeletal muscle mass caused by aging, disuse, and disease, even where loss of muscle mass is not the primary pathology, can have remarkable outcomes on health, morbidity and mortality. It is with this imperative that I aim to study mechanisms by which muscle wasting can be prevented and muscle function maintained. Genetic testing in multiple species and model systems including in vitro cell culture, and in vivo fly and mouse models are used to understand the molecular mechanisms regulating muscle homeostasis.
