Upon completing my final year of construction management in ATU Galway I took part in a J1 experience in America. I worked as part of the team at B.C Tent and Awning located in Boston, Massachusetts. Working from both the warehouse and travelling around to different sites, duties included inventory management, tent, awning and marquee installations and dismantles. Working as part of a team and individually dealing with clients in person and travelling all over Boston to complete installs. I returned back to Galway upon completion of the J1.

As part of the Construction Management course in ATU Galway, I completed a mandatory period of work experience. I chose to gain experience outside of the Irish industry and was employed by Bennett Construction as an assistant site manager in central London. The role was full time site based and duties included labour management, site inductions, assisting in health and safety, partaking in both daily and weekly site meetings, quality checking work, snagging, and assisting in all general tasks the site management team worked on. Alongside these tasks, I was required to continually log my progress on site in the form of projects and diaries for ATU Galway which contributed towards my academic grading.
