Having studied Chemistry for three years at Newcastle University and obtaining a first class BSc degree. I then moved onto a masters course in Advanced Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. This allowed me to build on my experience with material and physical chemistry at undergraduate and look for a more application-orientated approach to problems within the sphere. Developing an engineers mindset to problem-solving complemented the analysis skills my undergraduate course gave me and ultimately lead to my success on the course.Following the completion of my studies, the opportunity to work in a diverse role at Roaches International arose and has allowed me to pick up skills in practical hands-on engineering that academia could not provide. The strength of the team is particularly apparent in the workplace and has helped me learn a lot during my time at the company. I have spent the majority of my time manufacturing machinery for textile testing while also participating with the devlopment team. These two aspects of the role have nicely moved me into some design work as an equal appreciation for the assembly process, customer requirements and mechanical performance are required to be succesful in this area of the business.I look forward to my personal development journey continuing to grow as I learn from the people surrounding me at Roaches.
