When working for Sainsburys, I was an essential employee during the Covid 19 Pandemic. I had an interactive, customer-facing role that involved overseeing customer deliveries for the whole of counties Down and Armagh. I was tasked with overseeing delivery schedules, driving the company delivery van, delivering requested groceries, and ensuring customer satisfaction, dealing with any complaints, issues or queries that the customer may have had.

Having obtained my Child Protection Course and Coaching badges with the GAA, i was able to work fukl time as a Head Coach at the Kellogg`s Cúl Camps in the summer of 2017. As a lead Gaelic football coach in this nationwide sports camp, I oversaw its running in various clubs throughout County Down. My role was particularly practical and hands-on, coaching young children between the ages of 4 and 13. I was required to interact and communicate clearly with children of varying abilities, and to provide special assistance to children with special needs. I planned weekly schedules, and also dealt with queries from parents, ensuring to keep them up to date as to the well-being and development of their children. I developed leadership skills . I was creative and innovative in this role and contributed to a successful Cúl Camps for the children. All of these skills are highly transferable to the computing , business and teaching sectors.

During my time at Cloughogue Primary School , I spent time with a primary school teacher in a junior class, observing and analysing her implementation of an early childhood education program through the use of educational technology devices. I assisted with lesson plans, interacted with the children in an enthusiastic and engaging manner in order to help them with their learning in an active way, and came to better understand the sensitivity, discretion, and understanding required in dealing with a broad spectrum of individuals.

I undertook work experience with STATSports Newry in November 2016, where I was able to gain experience in sports analytical skills. The technology is used by some of the world’s best sports teams such as Liverpool and Paris Saint Germain .I shadowed members of the STATSports team reviewing business analysis, marketing and research, and carrying out document review. I observed, first hand ,the relationship between business, technology, and sport.

I undertook work experience in First Derivatives in Newry in October 2016, where I gained several new skills. During my placement at First Derivatives I gained international business and marketing experience as an intern in the Capital Markets & Financial Department. I carried out research and document review for Senior Staff, and analysed and documented the company’s market position in the process of providing updates and feedback for company stakeholders. This introduced me to the world of business in my early years, and encouraged me to explore opportunities in business.
