I am a BIM technician within the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) infrastructure team in Leeds. My main duty is to provide Mechanical and Electrical design assistance. I must meet strict deadlines and deliver my work in co-ordination with a variety of industry standards and regulations.As part of the design team for energy & infrastructure sector I am involved in projects within water, energy, renewables, and nuclear industries. I practice the integration of BIM, delivering fully functioning 3D models with parametric / smart linked data, drawings, smart piping, and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and 3D renders. I aid in creating models along with the collaboration of other disciplines which then opens opportunities to generating virtual reality models, clash detection analysis and virtual design reviews. essentially bringing every discipline involved in the project into one model. These can be published to the client so they can interact with a 3D model of their proposed site which are received exceptionally well. I have advanced knowledge of Autodesk’s suite of design products such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks and many more.I also aid within electrical design. This includes the production of cable calculations, duct design, MCC specifications, load schedules, instrument schedules and cable block diagrams.

While completing my Apprenticeship at Arup, I completed a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering on day release and a Level 4 Electrical & Electronic Engineering HNC. I also partly studied BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering all whilst gaining valuable experience within the engineering industry.I was awarded STEGTA Excellence Award for Outstanding Performance in Design and Draughting in 2018, as well as G4C Constructing Excellence Technical Apprentice of the Year 2019.After my apprenticeship completion I took the decision to move into a BIM Technician role to develop and improve BIM deliverables within my team and sector.
