Business Development ManagerStaffline Recruitment Limited Oct 2022 - Mar 2023I was appointed to direct and lead the growth of the three new north west branches, working alongside colleagues in a sales project aiming primarily to be in position to grow a new high street branch network to be trading in the first quarter of 2023. I was also appointed to lead the marketing and the design of brand placement with prospective clients as I have designed these campaigns before. I arrived to the new Manchester office (a new lease) with initially one member of part time staff. There were 13 temps working from legacy on site operations that due to company policy of numbers under a hundred get handed to a branch. There was no prospect data base for the region in place although there was a blank CRM. Through existing knowledge and physical mapping of the entire Greater Manchester region I created a pipeline of over 300 companies and completed sales activity from initial contact to meetings and rates sent in leaving the company in a very strong starting position for the first quarter of 2023. Several aspects of the role where not as described at interview. I resigned. The board asked me for a report as to why. They then made changes which I respected them for. -

National Business Development ManagerPaye Complex Hedge Fund Tax Solutions Jul 2021 - Oct 2021United KingdomI planned and headed a consultation launch of a new umbrella model aimed at high earning contractors, offering clients an alternative solution to the challenges of IR35 legislation. It was my role to introduce and market the product with an initial technical pitch. The technical legal close presentations would be done by the company lawyer involving myself as a supporting presenter. The only objection to the model raised by recruitment businesses was that PAYE was not a member of the FCSA, an organisation many of them and their clients mistakenly believed was a “Governing Body” they were not.A Government call for evidence in the umbrella company market was published in November 2021 and closed on 22 February 2022. A response summarising the evidence was published on 06 June 2023 with a further consultation titled Tackling non-compliance in the umbrella company market. This is a consultation by the government with a view to possibly appointing a regulator to the umbrella market.•I established the launch from scratch through a challenging time, working from home during the COVID-19 lockdown and the subsequent work from home trend. I sourced and initially cold called potential clients in carrying out the first phase of a comprehensive supply chain selling exercise•I changed the position of a global recruiter previously not interested in working with the model due to PAYE’s non FCSA membership to a potential PSL review•I built a significant network of 232 recruitment businesses and 450 contacts across the IT, medical, Offshore & Subsea, Technical Engineering and Nuclear sectors•I inputted businesses, contacts and conversation records into a blank database to build a trackable sales pipeline•I became a subject matter expert through learning the model by working with the company lawyer, I researched the FCSA and Independent Work Limited extensively•I planned and prepared all introductory sales literature and developed the entire sales pipeline

Section & Sales ManagerKpj Recruitment Mar 2012 - Oct 2014United KingdomKPJ, Formally Kevin Peter Jump Limited, a former drawing office, like Rimmington Booth. It entered into recruitment in the 70's & 80's, Based in Glossop. At the time of joining this business it had historical and current business around the high peak area in old school engineering trades such as CNC operators, maintenance trades and other dying engineering trades. There were good client contracts that needed development which I achieved for them. The operation was however very dated using a paper card system to manage sales. I designed and installed a fit for purpose modern CRM database specific to the profile of the company and the construction sector, which I took KPJ into. I doubled the engineering temp output, placed KPJ onto prestige PSL arrangements. I introduced high value contracts with electrical contractors, typical spend £160,000 in 9 weeks (Etihad Stadium Media Suite & Natwest Bank Refurbs etc) Overall gross billing from desk standing at 1.32 million, net profit 199.2 K -

At this company we managed some very challenging contracts. Regional, Contracts & Blue-Chip Key Client Portfolio ManagerHays Construction & Property Jun 2007 - Sep 2008United KingdomI onboarded a portfolio of target corporate clients to implement a new sales framework and territory management strategy. My appointment was approved by the national board of directors in response to poor trading results. I was a trouble-shooter; I designed my own job here.I achieved billings of over £10m+ per annum with these 11 clients and their subcontractors, which was at least this figure again. For example, £1.6m in nine months with a previously uninterested prospect, Laing O'Rourke who had previously sworn never to use Hays. The others were all in the top 20 of the Top 100 Uk Construction Contractors. These were called " The Portfolio" and were an interest of the World Board also.I achieved 100+trades & labour ops per day with these new clients and a further 500+ at least with their subcontractors within nine months of employment equating to a 300% increase in revenue across the northwest T&L region, I set the national policy on temporary worker holiday pay, I was chosen as one of the company’s top 5 executives to open an office in the US (Manhattan), I was a recruitment consultant trainer manager and mentor. I acted as the company account manager for client site conflict resolution. Example: incident resolved on site with Morgan Sindall senior project team regarding a concrete pour that had gone wrong costing north of 30K, normally agencies walk away from these disputes and serve notice for all outstanding invoices. I resolved this on site with liabilities accepted by the client with a handshake. Morgan Sindall was worth saving, I onboarded them and they spent over a million per annum. When you are running accounts like this engagement and commitment is key. I am fiercely proud of my achievements at Hays, and I know that they will never be repeated by one manager working alone as I did. -
Commercial Sales Manager, New BusinessO'Neill & Brennan Recruitment Jan 2007 - May 2008United KingdomI established this new start up Manchester office for the company achieving a very quick start up, 40 temp working inside 7 weeks. This was a challenging new start up for a company renowned in England and Ireland for 12/16 hour working days and nights. My first project won was with Bowmer & Kirkland helping them build Asda Shaw. I enjoyed a very good relationship with Bowmer & Kirkland for many years afterwards.

Business Development ManagerDeployment Limited Jun 2002 - Jan 2007United KingdomBDM responsible for the sales pipeline and recruitment consultant training at all 8 branches of the company. I was also the Industrial Divisional Manager across the 8 branches. -
Recruitment ConsultantDeployment Limited Jun 2000 - Jun 2002United KingdomMy first recruitment role after being made redundant from Littlewoods Home Shopping Shaw where I was a Pick Feed Shift Manager. I had a long warehouse career prior, I had done every job you can do, NVQ Level 3 Forklift Truck Driving & Warehousing. When I started, the branch industrial desk had 13 temps working. The first thing I did was to increase client rates and pass on that increase to the workers whilst retaining target margins. I did this as I felt the pay was too low for the job being done, retention improved dramatically. As I had done all the jobs Deployment recruited for, I found it very easy to talk to warehouse managers about the environments they worked in and what type of people they needed. Just as importantly I interviewed each jobseeker and understood what environments they should be placed to work in as per their experience. This approach and my experience placed me at significant advantage over my competitors. I grew my desk from 13 temp working to a consistent 100 per day over a two-year period before being promoted to BDE before another promotion to BDM. To be honest I really enjoyed the hustle and bustle of those two first years in recruitment. Our Oldham office was an old-school high street branch and we dealt with people, no hiding behind telephones and teams meetings then.
